Engineering CPD requirements by province
Every provincial and territorial engineering regulator in Canada, with a summary of its continuing professional development rules. Each page is re-verified automatically against the regulator's website.
APEGA
APEGA no longer requires a set number of CPD hours. Each year, licensed professionals complete the mandatory online learning modules assigned in myAPEGA, create and follow a PACE plan with supporting documentation, complete at least two CPD activities (one technical, one from any other category), and submit an annual declaration.
APEGNB
Professional engineers and geoscientists must complete at least 30 professional development hours per year, including hours in the mandatory categories of Practice & Regulatory Learning and Ethical Practice, reported annually through myAPEGNB.
APEGS
Members must earn at least 30 CPD credits per year, including at least 12 credits from verifiable activity categories, spread across at least 2 of the 5 activity categories, and including at least one cumulative hour of verifiable ethics activity. Members also declare their scope of practice annually.
EGBC
Practising registrants (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.L.Eng., P.L.Geo.) must each year: record at least 1 CE hour of ethical learning, complete the Regulatory Learning Module, create a CE Plan, and submit the CE Program Declaration — plus record at least 60 CE hours of learning activities over each rolling three-year period.
EngGeoMB
Members must maintain at least 240 professional development hours (PDH) over each three-year period, earned across six activity categories.
Engineers NS
Professional engineers and limited engineering licensees must accumulate at least 30 professional development hours (PDH) per year and at least 240 PDH over each three-year period.
Engineers PEI
CPD is mandatory under PEI's Engineering Profession Act. Members record professional development annually and report it to the Association; provider summaries indicate a minimum of 60 PDH per year with 240 PDH over three years (formal activity capped at 30 PDH/year). Exact figures are set out in Engineers PEI's Manual for Compliance.
Engineers Yukon
The CPD program applies to all professional members, limited licensees (L.L. Eng.) and life members. Hour targets and categories are set out in the CPD Program Guideline published by Engineers Yukon.
NAPEG
Members maintain at least 240 professional development hours (PDH) over each three-year period (about 80 per year), earned across six activity categories, with formal activity capped at 30 PDH per year.
OIQ
Members must complete at least 30 hours of continuing education per two-year reference period, covering professional and ethical competencies, and declare their activities by April 15 following the end of the period.
PEGNL
All licence holders must complete 30 hours of professional development annually across four categories, including at least 2 hours of Ethical Practice and 1 hour of Regulatory Learning.
PEO
Every year, professional engineers and limited licence holders complete the PEAK program: a practice evaluation (PE), the professional practice module (PPM), and a continuing professional development report (CPDR). CPD hours are set by the practice evaluation based on practice status.
